What does the calendar look like?
The Valoran Calendar was created and is maintained by the Great Scholars of Valoris. As are all accounts of history and lore that are documented in this encyclopedia. Cultures inside their own respective locales might use different calendars or their own structures of time and history, but the Valoran Calendar is widely recognized as the authority [for simplicity of gameplay]. The Calendar year is split into four seasons, with two months in each season. Months are split into 50 days - 5 weeks of 10 days. A special week, Godfall - to commemerate what was lost - heralds the onset of autumn and lasts for 7 days. Thus, one year is 407 days.
1 year = 8 months, 1 month = 5 weeks, 1 week = 10 days, 1 day = 25 hours
The days:
The days of the week in the Valoran Calendar are as follows. There are three names. The Aghorian name is often used, as it is quick to say. The common name is not often used in full, but is often used shortened, as in "I plan to visit the chapel on Rest.", or further shortened as in "The tavern was very loud on 'Mem'." (Remembrance) - cultural phrasing is ever changing. The literal translation is less commonly used, which is simply a direct translation of the Aghorian name: For Vidras, 'Vi' is life, and 'Dras' is day, therefore, it is 'Life Day'.
| (Aghorian) Name | (Common) Name | Literal Translation |

The months:
In the Valoran Calendar, there are two months per season, with a special, seven-day transition week from summer to autumn known as Godfall. The months were so named by predecessor sages of the Valoran Archives. Some of their names formalize and entitle certain historical events that occurred throughout recorded time within their fifty day length. The Valoran Calendar was revised toward the end of the Fourth Era, and may be revised whenever the Great Scholars deem appropriate - though rare, names of the months are ever evolving.

What year is it?
Elorae is old. Commonly, the millennia have been divided into eras, each rich with history. The beginnings of new eras are due to calamitous, world-changing events that restructure how life is lived.
There are six eras. They are labeled 0 through V. You can write them as E-0 - E-V. Eras are changed due to massive global events that affect the world on a fundamental scale. Greater details are in their own section labeled Eras.
The current year is V-44. This is the common way years are written and cataloged - a numeral for the era, followed by a dash and the number of year. Therefore, V-44 is the forty-fourth year of the fifth era.
Always, the years are named from the Valoran naming convention. They are named at the end of the year, to name the next. For example, V-43 was the Year of the Pink Sapling. Year V-44 is the Year of Threads. Some people believe that the names of the years are an omen, or foreshadowing of what is to come - others believe this to be coincidental conjecture.
In summary, ways of writing dates would be:
Long: Caradras, 13th of Starsong, V-44 the Year of Threads
Shortened: Caradras 13, Starsong, V-44
Shortest: 13 Starsong, V-44
